At The Old Mill Coffeehouse,
The Old Mill Coffeehouse opened its doors on October 13, 2022. Jaysen Sheeler, the youngest son of Brian Sheeler, approached his father about the idea of opening a coffee shop. When Jaysen spotted the "for sale" sign on the building, he raced home to tell his dad. They jumped at the opportunity when the feed mill building came up for sale.
Despite installing a kitchen and counter area, most of the feed mill's original interior remains intact. Owners Brian, Brandon, and Jaysen Sheeler all play an active, hands-on role in the business. You will often find one, if not all, of them working here in some capacity.
The feed mill building itself has been a longstanding part of the Richfield landscape since the 1950s, primarily operating as the Richfield Feed Mill. We have a sort of memorabilia wall dedicated to preserving some of its history. Gregory Beck operated the property as Country Truck & Lot here from 2009 through 2022.
We took the basic coffeehouse concept but elevated it significantly and will continue to expand the menu based on customer feedback. This sets us apart from other coffee shops. We are more than just your typical coffee joint; we offer all the expected coffee drinks in a much broader sense. We have coffee in every form: hot, iced, and frozen, as well as smoothies. Currently, we offer 50 flavors, and if you dream up a mixture, we can make it a reality. Additionally, we carry 25 varieties of teas and make London fogs.
Our location along Route 35 provides ample parking, and some days we use every inch of it. We have a handicap-accessible ramp, plenty of indoor seating, and a relaxing atmosphere. Unlike most coffee shops with limited hours, we are open seven days a week. We offer a drive-thru for call-in orders and pickups, and currently, we have online ordering as an additional option.
Janet, the General Manager, incorporated many mill-related names when creating the café-style menu to align with the feed mill theme. The building's décor still exudes its old mill charm as we aim to keep its history alive.
The Old Mill Coffeehouse offers breakfast meals like the Mill Scramble and the Bag Stacker, along with the Hogwild breakfast sandwich. For lunch, we have many different options, including the Feedbag Club, Grinder, Haymaker, Farm-ini, and Mill Mac-ini. The Cowgirl-ini is a favorite among customers. We've expanded our menu to include salad options and weekly soup selections. You can find our menu here.
Last but not least, we offer Hershey's Creamery hand-dipped ice cream in cones, dishes, sundaes, milkshakes, and floats. We also retail Reedsville Creamery milk, teas, yogurt, and ice cream. We offer gluten-free options and can accommodate some keto-friendly requests. We've expanded our sugar-free flavor options for drinks.
Turnpaugh Health and Wellness Center, based in Mechanicsburg, opened their fourth location in our adjoining building in July of 2023. (Article)
We are also deeply committed to our community and host various fundraisers throughout the year. We believe in supporting local causes as much as we are able. We've received overwhelming support from the community, and we'd like to thank our wonderful customers for shopping small and local. Without them, we couldn't do this.
